In-store loyalty apps are commonplace and big business, with retailers offering loyalty based discounts, vouchers and rewards based on purchases. In The Grocer (22nd October 2024) Lidl announced the integration of their scan and go shopping function to their own loyalty app, highlighting an on-going trend in retail technology.
Customer loyalty apps have numerous benefits to the retailer, they boost customer engagement, motivate purchases and ultimately improve customer retention.
But when in store offers or rewards need to be redeemed, how do retailers ensure the customer has complete mobile connectivity? Relying on an often-weak Wi-Fi signal is not efficient, creates delays at the checkout and frustrates customers, undermining the substantial investment a retailer has made in developing a comprehensive loyalty app.
Nick Hawke, Business Development Manager for Pan RF, emphasises the importance of mobile phone signal for businesses that rely on customer interaction.
“We are delighted to have been contracted to resolve in-store connectivity issues faced by one of the major retailers in the UK. Mobile phone signal is a necessity for every business, especially those reliant on customer interaction for service delivery. It is a common misconception that this responsibility falls to mobile service providers, but in fact it is the business itself who faces this challenge. By taking a proactive approach to connectivity for its customers this retailer has not only enhanced their customer experience and will no doubt reap the rewards."
